What is The New Beef?
The New Beef started in 2002, the brain-child of the Golen family. We started the business with the goal of selling quality, healthy, home-grown local beef to those tired of buying fat, steroid-filled meat of unknown origin from the supermarket. Studies conducted in the last five years have shown that growth steroids and hormones fed to beef cattle to accelerate growth are retained in the meat itself, and could be detrimental to human health. Our cattle are given no growth hormones or steroids, and are fattened exclusively on wild grass and natural grass hay. They are also processed at a younger age, resulting in smaller portion sizes that we feel are more cost-effective for our customers. Our meat is processed at a USDA-inspected facility to ensure safety of our product.
Our beef can be compared to Olathe Sweet Corn, Rocky Ford Cantaloupe, and Texas Grapefruit, in that it is only available once a year, in the fall. We process our cattle in October, which would allow us to deliver our product to you around the end of October. To prevent processing more beef than we can sell, we require a deposit in advance to reserve your order. We are currently taking orders for the fall of 2010, and will need to receive the deposit by the 15th of September in order to ensure proper quantity.
As in the past, we offer delivery of our product to the Denver Metro area, Ft. Collins, and the Laramie area. If you live outside of this area, please contact us to discuss delivery options.
